BYU Football

I’ve been a fan of BYU for a long time. It comes with the territory of living in the Provo area. Without a pro football team to support here in Utah, college kind of becomes my real passion. One of the greatest things about college football is the passion, if you know what I mean.

These kids are out their fighting for their future, their pride, and their school. I’m moderately disenchanted with NFL football because it never seems like any of the players care about the game past the paycheck. They must have had a time when they were so much more exciting to watch, but by this point the only thing they care about is the Bowl. If you only care about the last game of the season then at least the first half of the season is usually so boring I can’t even get myself to watch it. College football is a bruise-up beat-down brawl the whole game, every game. There’s either people fighting for a perfect season, people fighting to take a perfect season away from someone, or a team trying to make a name for itself. In college football you also get people individually trying to make a name for themselves. There ain’t no excitement like the excitement of a player that doesn’t get playing time trying to show a team what he can do. No one tries harder and puts more into a game than the fourth string DB that gets put in after an injury in the third quarter of a close game.

To get back to BYU, I’m so excited for this upcoming season. With a fresh team, a good prospect at quarterback, a strong defense and a new year they’re all ready to burst onto the national scene with ESPN. This is definitely a difference making season, and one that’s going to make it worth watching every nail-biting second.
